What our walkers say
“Walking makes me feel really good all round – mentally and physically. I feel like I’ve achieved something. From joining my local walking group, I’ve met some lovely people from all walks of life. I've also enjoyed discovering new places in my area, and re-discovering old ones.
Judy, Sydney Walk Eat and Talk (SWEAT) group
After retiring from work, I was looking for a social outlet and way to maintain good health. Walking with my group has improved my mood, kept me mobile and I'm more socially engaged.
Daniel, Cooleman Court Walkers
Apart from the exercise, I get to meet people from different countries and the walk organisers are doing a great job.

If there isn't a group in your area, why not become a volunteer walk organiser and start your own? As a volunteer walk organiser, you'll receive support from the Heart Foundation, and where available, a local coordinator. We'll provide training and resources to help you set up, promote, and run your group. If there's no local coordinator in your area, consider reaching out to your local council or shire to see if they'd like to get involved. Find out more.
Alternatively, you can sign up for a Personal Walking Plan and enjoy the benefits of walking at your own pace, in your own time.
