The annual Golden Shoe Awards are your chance to recognise their outstanding efforts and the impact they’ve made in your community.

While every walk organiser deserves recognition, we want to spotlight those who truly go above and beyond.

Every walk organiser brings something special to their community. Our three award categories celebrate the different ways organisers make a positive impact, from emerging leaders and innovative ideas to creating supportive, connected communities.

Rising star

For new and emerging walk organisers who have made an impact on their walking group within their first year with the program.

Trailblazer

For walk organisers who use creativity, innovation and new approaches to make walking more engaging, accessible and inclusive.

Bloom

For walk organisers who nurture a supportive and inclusive walking community that keeps people connected, engaged and thriving.

Do you know a walk organiser who goes above and beyond to get their community walking and talking? Now’s your chance to show your appreciation - nominate them for the 2026 Golden Shoe Award!

Winners receive:

All nominees will be notified and receive the heartfelt words shared about them – because for many, the recognition means just as much as the win.

Frequently asked questions

When will winners be announced?

Winners will be notified during the first week of December. Around the same time, we’ll also share nomination details with all walk organisers who received a nomination this year.

Can I nominate a walk organiser in more than one category?

No. Please choose the category that best fits your nomination. If you nominate a walk organiser for a national category, they will automatically also be considered for a state award.

Will my walk organiser be told they were nominated?

Yes. Around the time winners are announced, we’ll share nomination details with all walk organisers who received at least one nomination. We won’t share the names of the people who nominated them.

Rising star award (national):

For volunteer walk organisers who have made a great impact on their walking group and have been with the program for less than one year.

What is one specific thing this walk organiser has achieved in their first year that has had a positive impact on your walking group?

Trailblazer award (national):

For volunteer walk organisers who use creativity, innovation and new approaches to make walking more engaging, accessible, inclusive, or help grow and strengthen their walking community.

Tell us about the most creative, innovative, or memorable walk, event, or idea this organiser has introduced. What made it special?

Bloom award (national):

For nurturing a supportive and inclusive walking community that keeps people connected and engaged.
