Why walk with us?

Walk the Chalk Where Heritage Meets the Horizon. Welcome to Walk the Chalk, a community-led walking group dedicated to exploring the rugged beauty and hidden history of the Chalk Hill ridge. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or just looking for a reason to get outdoors, our walks offer the perfect blend of fresh air, local discovery, and good company. Our namesake trails are steeped in stories—from ancient Indigenous campsites and sacred springs used by the Whadjuk Nyoongar people to the pioneering days of the Smirk family dairy farm. As we "walk the chalk," we follow the limestone spine that once protected the township, rewarding every climb with panoramic views over the bushland and out toward Cockburn Sound.
